Spread Your Ashes imagines a service that would divide a person's ashes between the places that mattered to them, anywhere on Earth and one place above it.

Nothing here can be bought. The 18 locations, their histories and their hypothetical prices are there to make one question concrete: which places would you choose, and why those?

Questions it asks

  • Which places matter to you, and what happened there?
  • Would you leave part of yourself somewhere you visited only once?
  • If the sky above the planet were an option too, where would you go?

Using the site

Browse the places on the map or in the gallery. Each one opens to photographs and a breakdown of its price, and a few also have notes on their history and on the rules for scattering ashes there.

The plan page shows what a finished plan could look like, using two example entries. Nothing you do on this site is saved.
